Hot air balloons have always interested me. It seems like it would be such a nice but strange way to be above a land and to peer down without having restrictions from the fresh air. It’s always seemed to be unreal to me to ride one, like a fairy tale in a TV show or movie.
Unfortunately, my first time in a hot air balloon was in a fake hot air balloon, in Cambodia, of all places. It wasn’t a real hot air balloon, untethered and free. Instead, it was attached to a rod and was more akin to an amusement park ride. But we did get a great view of the neighboring temples and it was pretty cool. One of these days I hope to attend the Hot Air Balloon Festival in New Mexico and finally actually ride a real hot air balloon.
